MICHAEL ECKROTH, pianist and keyboardist, is a native of Phoenix Arizona and currently resides in Jackson Heights, NY. He is currently wrapping up a Jazz performance PhD at NYU as well as leading and co-leading a number of projects in varied genres of music.
From 2010-2012 Michael had the pleasure of touring extensively with the John Scofield new quartet. This group played in many of the major club venues in the United Sates as well as numerous venues and festivals in over 20 countries. He is currently working on a follow-up La Voz de Tres Record and "Return of El Gringo Sabroso", a latin record. Future releases include a Morrie Louden/Eckroth/Eliot Zigmund trio record with Chris Cheek, more Chulo Records projects and Dan Pratt's album with Greg Hutchinson, Christian McBride and others.
In recent years, Michael has performed at the Jazz al Parque Festival in Colombia, the Havana international Jazz Festival in Cuba, the Savassi Jazz festival in Brazil, the Lagos Jazz series in Nigeria and the Jazz Improv Festival in NYC.
